Reconstruction of the Villeperrot and Champfleury dams

The Villeperrot and Champfleury dams are among the dams equipped with manual fish passes that make up the VNF network. They consist of a flap gate fish pass and a spillway with chain-operated gates. Our teams are responsible for the hydraulic, geotechnical and civil engineering design, the morphology of the waterways, and the management of the consortium comprising SYT (architect), OTEIS (fish pass) and EMI (valve manufacturer). They support the project through to the construction management and commissioning of the structures. The objectives of the reconstruction of these sites are to:

• Maintain the water level for navigation in a responsive manner;
• Ensure efficient hydraulic management;
• Improve operating and maintenance conditions by ensuring the safety of personnel and standardizing the structures;
• Restore ecological continuity;
• Reinforce the banks against external erosion issues.

In this comprehensive project management operation, BRL Ingénierie is responsible for the following tasks:

• Design of manual dams: hydraulic modeling of watercourses with the new structures (including flood period management), dimensioning of civil engineering structures (plans, calculation notes), geotechnical analysis, and foundation dimensioning;
• Watercourse morphology: bank improvements and reinforcement of bathymetric pits downstream of the dams;
• Coordination of the consortium with SYT (architect), OTEIS (fish pass) and EMI (windbreak);
• Consultation with operators to ensure a clear understanding of the functional requirements of the structures;
• Taking into account standardization along the Yonne route;
• Design of technical rooms for supervising the structures (manual and automated modes);
• Description of the phasing of the works and temporary structures necessary for the reconstruction operations;
• Drafting of technical specifications for consultation with construction companies;
• Selection of companies and monitoring of construction management until acceptance of the structures;
• Commissioning of structures, supervision, and control.
