Coastline retreat maps in northern Martinique

As part of the Climate and Resilience Act, the CAP Nord Martinique urban community has embarked on a project to map coastal erosion exposure for its thirteen coastal municipalities. The aim is to identify the coastal areas that will be affected in the medium term (30 years) and long term (100 years) by erosion, in order to anticipate changes to the coastline, adapt coastal development, and meet regulatory requirements.

• Collection and analysis of all available basic data on coastal erosion;
• Summary of the general functioning of the coastline;
• Studies of coastline projections through diachronic analysis and development of evolution scenarios;
• Creation of exposure maps taking into account chronic trends, retreats linked to extreme events, the effects of structures, and climate change;
• Transposition of results into the urban planning document applicable to the territory.
