Balassa hydroelectric scheme

The watersheds of the rivers originating from the Fouta-Djallon Massif in northern Guinea, tributaries of the Senegal River, benefit from abundant rainfall and harbor interesting hydroelectric potential. With this in mind, the OMVS High Commission requested a technical feasibility and preliminary design study for the Balassa multi-purpose dam project. The assignment was carried out in partnership with HATCH (Canada).

Tasks performed include:

• Feasibility study ;
• Preliminary Project Summary (PPS) ;
• Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and Framework Resettlement Plan (FRP);
• Training for OMVS personnel
