Project to Support the National Hydrological Service (SHN) of the Republic of the Congo.
A major milestone has just been reached in the project to support the National Hydrological Service (SHN) of the Republic of the Congo. More than a year after work began, the new SHN building, constructed by JDMK, is now complete. It will house all SHN teams as well as the resident experts from BRL Ingénierie working on this five-year project. Final installations are underway, including the air conditioning systems and the generator that will ensure uninterrupted service in the event of a power outage. The furniture, meanwhile, was designed and crafted by a local artisan, thereby showcasing the region’s craftsmanship. In the field, the deployment of the hydrometric network is actively continuing. Thanks to the mission carried out in April 2026 with experts from our partner Ceneau, significant progress has been made in installing hydrological equipment (including automatic sensors, data acquisition units, and water level gauges). Five new stations are now operational and transmitting data in real time, joining the two pilot stations already in service. In each participating village, a local partnership has been established between IRSEN (the project beneficiary) and an observer responsible for daily monitoring of water levels and station maintenance. Work equipment was provided to them at the same time (work clothes, raincoat, machete, logbook, etc.). This project is supported by the AFD - Agence Française de Développement - and receives technical support from the International Office for Water (OiEau).
