Launch of the ‘Svay Chek River Restoration and Management Project’ in Cambodia

The BRL Ingénierie team recently launched a major project in Cambodia, which it will carry out over a period of six years. The kick-off meeting for the “Svay Chek River Restoration and Management Project”, held on 28 April, was attended by senior Cambodian officials, including H.E. Chan Yuttha, Secretary of State, and H.E. Meas Piseth, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, as well as representatives from several national institutions: the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Administration, the National Mekong River Committee, the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, not to mention numerous experts and project management units. AFD – Agence Française de Développement, the project’s financial partner, was represented by Mr Laurent Raspaud. This ambitious project aims to address water-related challenges by improving irrigation systems, enhancing storage capacity and reducing flood risks. It will also contribute to the development of a more resilient and efficient agricultural sector, drawing on the principles of ‘nature-based solutions (NbS)’, in order to sustainably support farmers’ incomes whilst preserving environmental balances. On this occasion, the Managing Director of BRL Ingénierie, Gilles ROCQUELAIN, was received by H.E. Thor Chetha, Cambodia’s Minister of Water Resources.
