Green Overseas

Maylis Labarthe and Hélène Rodriguez, agricultural and sustainable supply chain engineers at BRL Ingénierie, designed and led the workshop “Building climate-resilient food systems” from December 1 to 5, 2025, in Tahiti (French Polynesia).

Organized as part of the Green Overseas program, which is funded by the European Union and implemented by Expertise France, this workshop brought together some 50 participants from numerous European and British overseas countries and territories located in the Caribbean, Atlantic, and Pacific regions. It provided an opportunity for a rich exchange of experiences and collective learning through field visits, round tables, group work, and presentations by participants and other expert speakers. Discussions focused in particular on: the impacts of climate change on agriculture; livestock farming; fishing and aquaculture in island environments; adaptation solutions based on nature and traditional knowledge; the structuring of downstream links in the supply chain (local processing, marketing, circular economy); and the governance framework and public adaptation policies.

Two days of visits to the islands of Tahiti and Moorea provided an opportunity to meet local stakeholders involved in developing more resilient food systems, covering agricultural production, aquaculture and fishing, local processing, agricultural education, social entrepreneurship, and ecosystem preservation.
