R&D projects
MAJOR RISK Competitiveness Cluster

The purpose of "PRIDES" and the Risk Management and Prevention Competitiveness Cluster is to encourage projects born in the spheres of business enterprise, R&D cooperation and in a spirit of federation in response to the emerging needs of the risk market.

BRL Ingénierie is a member of the board of directors of the Risk Cluster.

One of its particular concerns is a structuring programme for water-related risks. Programme governance is the responsibility of Agropolis International, BRL Ingénierie and Société du Canal de Provence.

One of the Water Risk Programme goals is to determine the needs and themes having received insufficient coverage so far so that new cooperation-based research and development projects can emerge.

Three federative projects have thus been identified

- Flash floods and associated solid transport in vulnerable river basins and their impact on civil engineering and building structure sizing calculations.

- Coastal, lagoon and delta area vulnerability, to be addressed under the umbrella of Integrated Coastal Zone Management. Local area approaches and multi-discipline teams must be predominant.

- Short, medium and long term risk of water shortages due to global climate change, including a prospective study of "the demand for water and the management of conventional and alternative resources" in a partnership with the Water Cluster.

For these three federative themes, the approach is the same:

- Risk chain outlook (Vulnerability study, prevention, protection, forecasting and warnings, mitigation...)
- Multidiscipline, systemic approach inside the local areas concerned.
